10 Ways to Update Your Fall Look for $10 (or Less!), Part 2

Yesterday I shared the first five tips for updating your fall wardrobe on the cheap, and now, since you’ve all been waiting in suspense, barely able to contain your excitement, I will share the final five.

Another shout out to my beautiful models, my sisters, and one little secret I’ll share with you later, my back up photographer.

So let’s jump right into it.

6. Graphic Tees (Price: $4-$9)

Such a small (or medium…or large…or extra large…I’ll never tell!) article of clothing makes such an impact, and it’s so versatile. Just add it to any old regular outfit, and it bumps up the edge a notch. It’s a great way to extend your summer maxis; just throw on a denim jacket over it. This tee is an old one from Old Navy, but check out their clearance section; I counted no less than 24 graphic tee options from $4-$9. Can’t beat that.

Throw on a plaid shirt and leggings for a comfy casual look.

Add a blazer to this tee for a sophisticated casual look.

Switch it up with a pencil skirt and chambray shirt.

Wear it with a jacket and jeans.

Or, get a little more adventurous, and pair it with a dressy midi skirt and “vegan leather” jacket for a fierce look like my sister is wearing here.

7. Gold Obi Belt from Amazon (Price: $6.99)

Add some major bling to any outfit with this gold obi belt from Amazon. Belt it over a cardigan to dress it up a bit…

Or add it to your little black dress or simple black ensemble like this:

A little bit of bling goes a long way, so whatever you decide to pair it with, keep the rest of the outfit simple.

8. Top it off with a hat! (Price: $6-$9)

Another perfect accessory to go with this season’s capes and ponchos, or any fall fashion, for that matter, is a hat. Try a fedora or a felt wide-brimmed floppy hat for a completely different look.

Doesn’t my sis look like a chic French girl in this pic?

I have found two options for under $10 for you, this wide-brimmed hat from Amazon for $6.25, or this Panama hat from Old Navy for a little over $9 (with today’s deal of 30% off; use the code THANKYOU).

9. Colorful and Patterned Tights From Walmart (Price: $4-$6)

Walmart has a great selection of colorful tights and cute patterned tights.

Add them to a simple dress or skirt to punch up the wow factor. They make a big statement, so again, keep the rest of the outfit simple.

You could try polka dot tights with a striped top for a low key version of mixed prints. Or mixed “prince,” which my 3 year old thinks they are. She came out wearing a crazy outfit one day, and I said, “I like your mixed prints!” She said, “I AM NOT A BOY!” A little puzzled, I said, “I know you’re not!” She replied, “Then why did you call me a prince?!?”

10. DIY Statement Necklace (Price: Around $10)

And lastly, another DIY project, make your own statement necklace. All of the tunics and oversized sweaters that are so perfect for fall just beg to be accessorized with a long, pretty, chunky necklace. Pick up the supplies from your local craft store for around $10, and make one this weekend in a few hours or less. Here are a few versions for you to try, this Anthropologie-inspired one from here on the blog,

…or this marbled clay version from A Beautiful Mess.

If you’re not into DIYing, pick up a cute statement necklace for less than $10 like this one from Forever21.

And that concludes my 10 tips for Fall Fashion.

Now is the fun part…I get to reveal the “behind the scenes” secret behind some of my pics.

Meet my little bitty photographer, wearing what she thinks we should all be wearing for fall, princess nightgowns, Mommy’s boots, and ALL of the hairbows.

My girls had just a little bit of fun getting involved in the fashion shoot with us.

And that’s it! If you enjoyed this post, be sure to check out Part 1, where I shared the first five tips. Happy shopping and pumpkin spice latte drinking and sweater wearing in this, the best season of the year!
