What is famous in Dhar

Dhar, a small town in the state of Madhya Pradesh is a place well worth a visit. There are several Tourist Attractions in Dhar which will surely impress any visitor. Dhar was founded by the Parmar king Bhuj. This is a medieval historical town that dates back to the 11th century. Forced to leave this capital city on account of several defeats suffered at the hands of the enemies in battles, the members of the founder dynasty returned again in the year 1732 and continued to rule for a long time.

Dhar was ruled by the Sultans of Delhi during the Mughal Period. Dhar held a very prominent place and was the capital of Malwa until Mandu gained prominence. It was a prime centre in the Revolt of 1857.

It is believed that just at a distance of about 3 km from Dhar is the place where Kalidas meditated.
